Plane irons are made from hardened and tempered high carbon chrome steel which has excellent edge retention characteristics and allows a razor sharp edge to be honed. All cutters are ground to give a flat surface that is easier to sharpen. These Irons are supplied with an accurate ground edge of 25 degrees, but before use it is recommended an additional honed angle of 30 degrees be applied using a fine sharpening stone and honing guide.
